A Blast from the Past: Ewok Village

A Blast from the Past: Ewok Village

In this edition of the A Blast from the Past series, I am going to talk about the Ewok Village. Kenner issued this play set in 1983 during the release of Return of the Jedi. I remember as a kid having fond memories of playing with this play set. I used to have a bunch of Ewoks during my childhood. As you can tell in the photos below, I still have a few. I remember that poor Wicket got chewed up by my dog that same year ROTJ came out. I cried and then moved on. Speaking of which let me move on to talk about this play set.

The play set did have some items that were seen in the film. The Ewok Village has a manually operated net trap just like the one that caught Chewie, Han, Luke and the rest of the Rebels when Chewbacca was thinking with his stomach! The village came with a string rope elevator, campfire with rotisserie, and boulder which could take out Stormtroopers trying to attack the village. There was even a secret passage for the Ewoks to escape in case the base was overrun with enemies.

The set sold for $19.99 back in 1983. Enjoy the pictures below and stay tuned for the next Blast for the Past article! I even staged some of the figures on the village.
